For international mail, romanized pinyin in English order works: room and building first, then street, district, city and the 6-digit postal code. Adding the address in Chinese characters on a second line speeds up domestic delivery.

Tips for shipping forms

When a form splits the address into fields, map the example above from the bottom up: the last line is the country, the line above carries the postal code and city, and everything else fills the street address lines in order. Keep diacritics if the form accepts them; plain ASCII is also universally deliverable.
