How size limits work
Every carrier caps parcels two ways: the longest single side, and "length plus girth" — the longest side plus the distance around the package's other two sides (2 × (width + height)). A long thin tube and a big cube can have the same L+G even though they look nothing alike.
Oversize fees before hard limits
Between "standard" and "rejected" sits an expensive middle zone: UPS and FedEx add large-package surcharges well before their absolute maximums, often exceeding the base shipping cost. If the checker shows a warning, pricing a smaller box or a freight service is usually worth it. Limits shown are the carriers' published general figures — specific services and destinations can differ, so confirm borderline boxes with your carrier.
